The United Arab Emirates has made blockchain technology a major priority for its future plans, and it is currently developing a decentralized ecosystem that will make it a worldwide blockchain center.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country’s Foundation Day, the United Arab Emirates has introduced the world’s most expensive contemporary postage stamp.

The first edition of the modern postage stamp was released by the Emirates Post Group, a government-owned postal office, in four versions. Each actual stamp in the collection comes with a digital counterpart.

The most pricey edition is the “Golden Jubille 2021,” which has a total of 2021 pieces and costs $550 USD. Each stamp contains one gram of gold.

The second stamp, known as the “Spirit of the Union — 1971,” depicts the UAE’s founding fathers establishing it. The third stamp is “Year of the 50th — 2021,” and the fourth is “Projects of the 50th 2071,” showing off the UAE’s future vision.

The Expensive Things collection costs between 250 and 400 AED ($68 to $133) for each nonfungible token (NFT postage stamp).

Mr. Ashram added that the celebration was chosen to commemorate the Anniversary of Foundation Day, and it is available to anyone around the globe. The Emirates Post Group became the first p in the Middle East and North Africa to issue NFT postage stamps when they were released. Over the past year, blockchain has become an important part of UAE’s business strategy.
